To be honest, before I bought the AF Cartier Blue Balloon, I had imagined the possibility of “confusing the fake with the real one”. After all, various online reviews say that it is “restored” and “comparable to the original product.” But after actually wearing it on my hand and playing with it carefully for a while, I realized: no matter how good a replica is, it is still a replica after all.

When I got the watch for the first time, I was really surprised. The color of the pink dial is correct, the Roman numerals are three-dimensional and full, the sword-shaped hands glow with the iconic blue in the sunlight, and the thickness of the case is exactly the same as the original. My friend didn’t even recognize it when he looked closer. At that moment, I almost believed the statement “it can be taken seriously”.

But the details can’t fool you. Turning it over and looking at the movement, although the AF factory used an ETA modified movement and the gear was adjusted to the original first-speed design, the polishing still lacked the sense of refinement – it was not as delicate as the Geneva pattern, and the edges of the screws were slightly rough. The dial rotates under strong light, and the layering of the sunray pattern is obviously not as smart as the original one, just like the difference between the high-definition picture and the original painting.

What makes me realize the “difference” most is the wearing experience. The heavy texture of the genuine Cartier, the softness of the strap leather, and even the tight fit of the sapphire inlay on the crown are all inferior to the AF factory. It’s not bad, it’s just that it’s not Cartier after all.

Now I no longer worry about “whether I can take it seriously”, but regard it as a “light luxury experience”: I like the design of the blue balloon, but I can’t afford a budget of tens of thousands for the time being. AF Factory gave me the opportunity to get closer to my dream. But I also know that it is suitable for daily wear and photography, but it is not suitable for decoration. When playing with watches, you must play clearly and wear them calmly.
